From the Abbey, it is possible to start trekking routes toward the Sanctuary of the Avvocata. The path—originally walked by ancient pilgrims—takes about four hours and offers a wonderful view overlooking the sea. Not to be missed are the Cathedral, the Chapel of the Holy Fathers of Cava, the Cave of Saint Alferius, the Ancient Chapels with 11th-century altars, the Romanesque Cloister, the Old and New Chapter Houses, the Chapel of Saint Germanus, the Catacombs, the Lombard Cemetery, and the Museum, the magnificent library which houses an important archive with about 15,000 parchments from the 8th to the 19th century, precious manuscripts, and incunabula.
